I long so much to make beautiful things. But beautiful things require effort, and disappointment, and perseverance.

Turn Up Your Creative Flow With A New Mindset

Disappointments come across as life unfolds. We can get disappointed for a variety of reasons (real and imagined) or people. But, be it your creative, professional, or daily life, there be always be a disappointment – it’s part of our ongoing spiritual awakening and emotional growth that influences your creativity.

What I’ve learned about disappointments (or feelings) is that I don’t have to let them make my decisions or tell me how to feel about myself. It’s crazy easy how this can happen, subconsciously, if we aren’t paying attention. In fact, this is so important that my whole Creative Coaching practice is based on “Evolving SELF.” We must, or we will not find a way to integrate our creativity and spirituality and experience our most authentic nature and purpose.

Believe me when I tell you that disappointments can become the stepping stone to turning up your creativity. In fact, I’m going to share with you 5 ways you can quickly turn disappointment into a fresh creative flow. Know this, no artist up levels their art without facing and working through disappointments.

SOME COMMON DISAPPOINTMENTS

  1. You didn’t get it right the first time.
  2. You didn’t get the desired results.
  3. It’s not what you expected. Can’t seem to connect.
  4. You thought if you purchased the course, you’d do it.
  5. It was a joy to create the piece, and you don’t know what to do with it.
  6. You’re not as carefree and spontaneous as you thought you were.

Evolve Yourself Creatively

1. Work on Reasons rather than Feeling Disappointed – Instead of getting stuck in feeling disappointed or dejected, think about how you could have handled the situation differently for a more positive outcome. Jot down the takeaways and begin working on them. Instead of letting disappointment take root and become a block, choose to let it bring you the wisdom to grow towards your goal or dream.

2. Don’t Take It Personally – Taking a disappointment personally will never be helpful. Acknowledge and respect the work you’ve put in as well. As a result, you’ll gain from the disappointment. Think of it as a life event, and you’ll avoid wasting your time, energy, and resources if you take it personally.

3. Learn about the “Successful” Failures – You’ve heard countless stories of people who’ve made big names after having innumerable failures and disappointments. Successful people do what others don’t want to do. Put in the effort, experience disappointment, and persevere, and you will create the life you dream of.

4. Look for the Hidden Opportunity – Wait and see the opportunity that presents itself as the outcome of the failure. Perhaps, you will be led to learn a new personal or professional skill, enhance or relearn about your creative expression, things you had earlier missed but got highlighted.

5. Focus on the Process – The thing about disappointments is that they are just a part of the overall method, and it boils down to being patient and continuing on your path. Don’t get discouraged. Just learn to move on.

Are you ready to choose a new experience and call down your dreams? OK, your “Yes” requires action (effort and perseverance).
